Firestone Winterforce LT Review
The Firestone Winterforce LT is a studdable winter tire designed for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vans, pickup trucks, and SUVs. It is aimed at delivering wintertime traction on dry, wet, and snow-covered roads.
In this review, we glance at Winterforce LT’s features and performance in different conditions. For information on Winterforce tires more suitable for sedans, read our Winterforce 2 review.
Firestone Winterforce LT Review: Features
The Winterforce LT has a winter-specific tread compound moulded into an aggressive directional tread pattern to improve wet and dry handling while providing a smoother and quieter ride.
The high-density siped tread blocks offer more biting edges for improved grip on ice and loosely packed snow. They are also designed to accept studs (pinned for #15 metal studs) to enhance traction on hard-packed snow and ice further.
The LT’s internal structure includes twin steel belts wrapped in a polyester casing to provide solid ride quality and durability.
How Does the Firestone Winterforce LT Perform?
The Winterforce LT handles well on various surfaces; thanks to the directional tread pattern, this tire rides better on ice and rolled snow than most studless tires.
Noise and comfort levels are also low. Most users report that the cabin is quieter, with no vibrations on the steering wheel, even though the tire is studded.
While there is no tread life warranty on the tire, tread life is still impressive. The Winterforce LT can last up to 40,000 miles, standard for a winter tire but quite impressive for one designed for such large trucks.
Warranty
The Firestone Winterforce LT does not come with a mileage warranty. It is, however, backed by the brand’s uniformity warranty, which guarantees the first 1/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are covered for 5 years and are prorated down to the final 2/32-inch tread depth.
